Collaborative Research Centre 805

Together with colleagues from the departments of mechanical engineering and mathematics, Janine Wendt investigated the legal handling of technical products and systems that adapt to changing environmental conditions without human intervention from 2015 to 2021 as part of the Collaborative Research Centre 805. Self-learning systems end the human monopoly on rational decisions made under conditions of uncertainty. This necessarily leads to a redistribution of the liability burdens between manufacturer and user, possibly also with the addition of new bearers of liability law responsibility. Another question examined was under which conditions a self-learning system can be qualified as defective at all.
