Here you will find general information about the tests at our chair. Please read this information carefully and take it to heart. If there are any open questions afterwards, it is worth taking a look at our "frequently asked questions" (FAQ) section.

To the frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Oral examinations are only possible after consultation with Prof. Dr. Janine Wendt . Please enquire in advance at your responsible study office / examination office whether an oral examination is permitted according to your examination regulations.

If a registered candidate is unable to take part in the examination due to illness, a medical certificate must be presented. In the event of unexcused non-appearance, the examination is considered failed.

General information:

  • Put your ID card as well as your student ID card next to you in a clearly visible place.
  • Place your bag as far away from your desk as possible.
  • Cell phones and Smartwatches should be switched off and kept in the bag.
  • You will not begin the exam until you are asked to do so by the supervisor. Until then, leave the exercise sheets upside down on the desk. This ensures that all candidates start at the same time.
  • Subject-related questions will not be answered.
  • In case you want to leave the room for a short time (WC), please inform the supervisor. Only one person is allowed to leave the room at a time. Cell phones must be left switched off at the desk.
  • Ten minutes before the end of the processing time no more exams may be handed in. Please simply remain seated.
  • At the end of the processing time the writing must be stopped. Otherwise the exam will be considered as not passed.

To the processing:

  • Please bring your own paper.
  • The examination papers may only be written on one side and must be numbered.
  • Please leave a 1/3 correction margin.
  • Allowed colors are only blue and black (not red and green).
  • Pens must be document-proof, they are not allowed to be erased or otherwise removed without leaving traces.
  • In particular, do not use pencils, ink that can be removed without residue or that fades in sunlight.
  • Answers must be justified in whole sentences. Legal regulations must be stated precisely. For example: § 434 I p. 2 No. 2 BGB.
  • Only key points are not evaluated.
  • Illegible answers cannot be evaluated.

Regarding the use of legal texts:

  • Only uncommented bound legal texts are permitted. Comments on the content of the law or references to other standards are not permitted.
  • Illuminated markings in the law and underlining are also not permitted.
  • Please use the most recent edition of the legal text. Recommendations on the legal text and the edition can be found in the literature references for the respective lecture or exercise on the website.
  • Post-its are only allowed to mark the first page of a codification (BGB, WpHG, MAR, etc.) and only to refer to the law itself. Individual paragraphs may not be marked.
  • Other aids (overviews, definitions, explanations, comments, etc.) are not permitted and are not necessary to solve the exam.

The exams are corrected according to legal standards. In view of the fact that legal cases have to be dealt with, it is not only decisive for the evaluation whether the author of the written exam has correctly identified and solved all relevant points and problems of the case, but also a consistent, logical structure according to the expert opinion style and a clean subsumption technique. Linguistic dexterity, the use of the correct terminology and precise references to laws and paragraphs are also taken into account.

Please bear in mind that the exams have been corrected benevolently and that your grade may also deteriorate in the event of a remonstration. A remonstration is therefore associated with the risk of points being deducted.

Remonstrations must be submitted to the department by e-mail within one week of the exam inspection.

We wish you every success in the exams!
